Our team of professionals was engaged to create and build a comprehensive database and GIS map of the paleobotanical research and document collection by a major university in the Western United States. The following materials were sorted, organized, catalogued, and indexed:

                1) 14,500 specimens of fossil plants, vertebrates, invertebrates,  insects, and teaching materials

                2) 400 folders with approximately 1200 pages of correspondence, research, and personal                                 materials

                3) 2,400 research and reference slides

                4) 4,000 research and personal photographs, negatives, and photographic slides

                5) 1,568 additional publications and reprints

                6) Comprehensive locality databases were created using best available information

These catalogued materials were then used in the design, programming, and creation of a comprehensive series of databases across multiple software platforms. The final step in this project was the creation of a dynamic GIS map of fossil localities connecting over a hundred years of geospatial information with the universities extensive fossil plant collection and supporting research materials.

Hardpan Engineering was recruited to assist in the planning and implementation of forestry and humanitarian aid efforts in the Andes Mountains of Central Peru. Our role in the project included site selection and analysis, cost-benefit analysis of forestry efforts, formulation of a Project Idea Note for the Global Environmental Facility and the United States Agency for International Development, forest planning including carbon sequestration estimation using spatial analysis, humanitarian aid planning and logistics, and aiding in the provision of maternal healthcare and child nutrition. Most recently, Hardpan Engineering, as a company, assisted in the siting, planning, and construction of five hundred homes for poor families in Puno, Peru and looks forward to continuing to use our knowledge and expertise to help vulnerable families and communities.
